Common hearing concerns

Hearing loss can happen gradually, so it’s not always easy to notice at first.

You may find it harder to hear people clearly, especially in busy or noisy places, or you might often need to ask others to repeat themselves. Some people notice they turn the TV or music up louder than those around them prefer, struggle to hear conversations on the phone, or find it difficult to keep up during group discussions.

Over time, concentrating on listening can become tiring or stressful. In many cases, family members or friends may spot changes in your hearing before you do.

For children, hearing difficulties can also affect speech and language development, as well as confidence and progress at school.

Our free hearing assessment can help address any of these concerns.

Your appointment will include a discussion about your hearing and medical history, an ear examination using video otoscopy, and a full hearing assessment including speech testing in background noise where appropriate.

If ear wax removal is identified as part of your hearing assessment, we will arrange a referral to our trusted partners at Paisley Hearing Care. This procedure is carried out using dedicated specialist equipment designed specifically for safe and effective wax removal, ensuring you receive the highest standard of care and the best possible treatment outcome.

Your results will be explained clearly, and hearing aid options or referrals will be discussed if needed. A report will be provided for your GP if required.
